PREPARING FOR AN AUCTION |
|
So you are having an auction and do not know where
to start? |
|
We have been conducting successful auction sales
for 20 years and we know that a lot of planning and hard work take
place long before the first bidding number is given out
Each auction is a little different, but the list below can help you
with the basics. |
|
1. |
 |
Organize the lunch. Usually a church group or family member can
provide this. If you wish, Kevin can help you with the arrangements. |
| 2.
|
We bring our
office to you! We will need a level spot to park our office
trailer with east access to hydro (2 outlets) and a phone jack (for
the Interac & Credit card terminal) |
| 3.
|
A "Johnnie-on-the-spot" is usually a good idea, depending upon
the length of your sale. Kevin knows some people that can provide
these for you. |
| 4.
|
Keep dogs confined or tied. |
| 5.
|
Provide a
couple of people to help Kevin hold up items. |
| 6.
|
Present your items up for auction in an organized way so they
look appealing. |
| 7.
|
Do not let people see you bid on
your own items. This stops Them from bidding. |
| 8.
|
Be prepared for people who want to buy items before the sale.
Do not let them talk you into it! They are hoping to get it cheaper
than at the auction. |
| 9.
|
Have ample parking
organized and have signs showing where the public CAN and CANNOT park. |
